The Africa-Caribbean Nursing Continuum Program (ACNCP)
Led by the Health Association of African Canadians (HAAC), funded in part by the Government of Canada's Foreign Credential Recognition Program, supports internationally educated nurses (IENs) in successfully transitioning into the Canadian healthcare system. The program reduces barriers to licensure, strengthens professional integration, and enhances participation in the healthcare workforce across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

The ACNCP is a structured mentorship and support initiative that assists internationally educated nurses (IENs) and Canadian-trained nurses of African and Caribbean descent in navigating the Canadian nursing licensure, credential recognition, and employment processes while supporting their successful integration into the Canadian healthcare workforce.
The program builds professional confidence, strengthens cultural and workplace competencies, and fosters meaningful networks that support long-term career success in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Eligibility
Mentee Eligibility
- Are an internationally educated nurse or a Canadian-trained nurse of African and Caribbean descent
- Are pursuing or considering nursing licensure in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick or overseas, but have advanced in your immigration process to Nova Scotia or New Brunswick
- Currently a nursing student or a graduate
- Are open to learning, growing, and connecting with others
- Value cultural understanding and shared experiences
Mentor Eligibility
- Are a registered nurse (RN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), or nurse practitioner (NP) currently licensed and practicing in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick
- Self-identify as African-Caribbean from Nigeria, Cameroon, Jamaica, Ghana or Dominica Republic, with strong connections to the community
- Are willing to share your experiences with respect, compassion, and professionalism
- Willing to commit to a mentor-mentee partnership lasting between 1-year, with flexible time commitments (minimum of 6 meetings throughout the duration)
- Available to attend one 3-hour mentorship induction workshop
- Have a desire to uplift and empower other internationally educated nurses
